Genius Project
So, I have written my draft letter to my mentor, however I still am not sure as to who I am going to send it to. I am thinking that I will ask just about every guitar manufacturing company I can, and then see who gets back to me. My big goal is to have someone from a large company such as Fender be my mentor, but I fear that no one will want to take the time to help out someone with no experience or money. Soon, I plan on calling just about every company I can, and seeing if ANYONE would be available to help me. Copy of the letter I will be sending to my potential mentors: Dear , My name is Davis Porath, I am a junior at Sage Creek High School where we are participating in the Genius Project, a project in which students are given free time to work on a project of their choosing. The only guidelines of the project are that it has to “Cultivate a passion for learning, challenging ourselves, and impact the community.” For my project I have chosen to design and build my own bass. This idea started because I have been playing bass for around 6 years and I have always been fascinated with the design of guitars and basses. I am eager to learn about the design process that goes into creating an instrument. Another aspect of the Genius Project is having a mentor that has experience in the subject of your project. So, that is where I ask you: will you be my mentor? I It will not be that much of a time commitment, maybe a few emails or phone calls answering questions I have. Any advice regarding this project would be greatly appreciated. Please get back to me when you can, and thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Sincerely, Davis Porath
